Eligibility Requirements
To fulfill general and academic eligibility requirements, each student-athlete at Johnson & Wales' Charlotte Campus must
- Be a full-time matriculating student enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester credit hours (with the exception of seniors who need less than 12 credit hours to graduate and who have verification from the director of compliance).
- Attain a 1.85 GPA after their first semester of full-time enrollment and a 2.00 cumulative GPA every semester thereafter.
- Maintain progress towards degree completion as defined in Satisfactory Academic Progress standards.
- Sign the Department of Athletics Handbook, team-specific academic and code of conduct forms each academic year.
- Review and sign NIL guideline and understand state laws.
Competition
Johnson & Wales University's Charlotte Campus offers 14 collegiate sports teams. As members of the Coast to Coast Conference and Provisional member of the NCAA DIII, JWU Charlotte Athletic teams plays a highly competitive NCAA DIII schedule and compete against opponents across all levels of intercollegiate athletics, including NCAA DI, and DII athletic programs. The Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) is very engaged in the community and involved with volunteer projects throughout the city of Charlotte. Additionally, in conjunction with the NCAA, JWU Charlotte athletes have the opportunity to earn membership into North Carolina Alpha Alpha chapter within Chi Alpha Sigma. Student athletes must be a junior or senior and have a cumulative GPA of 3.5. The Potential Student Athlete (PSA) who choses JWU Charlotte Athletics will have a three-pillar commitment: a desire to be the best at their chosen sport, be dedicated students, and help create a culture of belonging. It's a holistic approach that ensures the commitment of student athletes to success in all areas of their college lives.
