English as a Second Language Program

The English as a Second Language (ESL) program is housed within the JWU Global's English Language & Culture Academy (ELCA) and offers instruction in reading, grammar, oral communication, and writing for students who need to build their English language proficiency skills for academic purposes.

The ESL Program offers intensive classroom instruction and weekly enhancement activities for students who are preparing for undergraduate and graduate degree programs or are just interested in taking ESL courses. Students who do not meet the university English proficiency requirements are required to enroll in the program before matriculating into degree programs. Upon entrance, students are given a placement test to determine their level of English proficiency (taught at the Providence Campus only).
