Libraries

The Johnson & Wales University library network is comprised of libraries on the JWU campuses in Providence, Rhode Island; North Miami, Florida; Denver, Colorado; and Charlotte, North Carolina. The network combines traditional library services with a dynamic online information environment tailored to meet the needs of Johnson & Wales students on and off campus.

Staffed by graduates of ALA-accredited master’s degree programs in library and information science, a notable characteristic of the library is its commitment to the development of lifelong learning skills and information literacy in all JWU graduates. In addition, a key mission of the library is enhancing the pedagogical, professional and scholarly achievements of JWU faculty. During operating hours, staff is available to offer assistance on how to effectively use library resources and find the most pertinent information for assignments.

The Denver Campus library is located on the ground floor of the Academic Center and serves the academic needs of the university. The library provides curriculum-related and recreational materials in print, multi-media and electronic format. The facility includes study space as well as computer labs and classrooms. A photocopier and fax machine are available. The library is open 7 days a week during the academic year. Exceptions apply for holidays and student breaks.

Students can begin their research from anywhere they have access to the internet by visiting the library’s webpage:

  • Use Quick Search to find books, videos, magazines and electronic resources.

  • Search for full-text articles in the library’s databases.

  • Get research assistance and find the most relevant information for papers, projects and other assignments through the library’s subject, class and research guides.

  • Materials not available at the Denver Campus library can be obtained from another library via Interlibrary Loan.

Access to online databases and borrowing of library materials are privileges available to currently registered students. Students use their Wildcat Mail credentials to access online databases. Materials such as books and DVDs can be borrowed using the student's library barcode, located on the front of their JWU student ID card. By borrowing materials from the library, a student agrees to to the library's borrowing policies. Loan periods vary depending on the type of resource; fees are charged for overdue materials.

Visit the Denver Campus library webpage for links to online resources, user guides, contact information and hours of operation.
